    I’m 36 and I don’t understand the issue with using basic punctuation. Isn’t it easy to understand that people have different writing styles and a slightly different style does not equate to hostility? You can overcome anxiety. People act as if anxiety is some insurmountable barrier, that people are utterly helpless in the face of. That’s not true. You can overcome anxiety - and the best way to do that is to use CBT and expose yourself to what makes you anxious. Anxious about phone calls? Well, make phone calls. Make a lot of them. I used to be anxious about phone calls, and then I had to do them as part of my job - within a month, that anxiety was gone. I used to be anxious about talking to strangers - well, my job entailed me speaking to strangers every single day, sometimes for hours. Within a few months, that anxiety was gone. I used to dread the morning handover of patients - after doing it for over 2 years, that anxiety is gone. You are not a prisoner to your anxiety, and you are stronger than you think. Your anxiety does not define you and your brain CAN overcome anxiety. The worst thing you can do is tell yourself that your anxiety is some sort of insurmountable barrier. It is not. You can overcome it. You just need to believe that, and throw yourself into those situations that provoke anxiety. You can overcome just about anything with time, patience and determination.

    The best films are the films you liked most that year. Nothing else. They're the ones that deserve recognition. Art is subjective, and no one "awards show" can objectively choose the best. The Oscars, and other award shows, are currently culturally important/influential, and historically the same. Their history tells us a lot about the people and money that runs the Hollywood machine, and how separated it can be from the world's numerous international films and film as art. As long as they hold cultural conversations and people give them their time and engagement, the Oscars will be important. No matter how rigged, how snubbed many are, how badly animation is treated, or out-of-touch jokes or segments are. The people who truly feel honoured for a win or nomination, the rare honouring of filmmaking in a proper tribute light, the recognition for films that people might never have watched otherwise, and the little bits of genuinely funny comedy, ("Weird Al's" Guide to the Grammys is a highlight,) and real emotion are special, and worth seeing. (Roberto Benigni's and Ke Huy Quan's Oscar Acceptances are touching...!) We shall how long they last. I hope they can become better then themselves. I surprised myself reading Miles Edward's thoughts, I changed my mind from hating the Oscars to simply disliking them... Thanks Miles! Oh yeah! I like the editing, design elements, and presentation of the video though!

    I feel like a lot of the time videos like this are kind of just cynical for the sake of it and don't actually consider why the Oscars may be important. The Oscars aren't important and don't matter when it comes to what films you're allowed to enjoy obviously, but I find it exceptionally narrow minded when people focus on this. The Oscars are important as a cultural and historical artifact, and often show what the pervasive thoughts of the era were- both culturally and in cinematic trends. The fact that money is a defining factor also documents a lot about who and what was deemed of relevance in order to justify a campaign. They're an important part of Hollywood history, and I think generally they're more important years down the line then they are right now. It just feels rather reductive to say they don't matter at all. They also very much matter to those who win and are nominated because they're a badge of honour amongst their peers. So yeah, don't want to be overly critical cause a lot of the points you're making are valid but it doesn't seem like a fair assessment to me...

      Shakespeare In Love. Just go see the nominees for that year, just force yourself to watch the other nominees, and tell me the Oscars matter.

    • @milesedwards3287
      @milesedwards3287 3 месяца назад

      Its not the best film of that year by any stretch but thats exacrly what the Oscars are about. Shakespeare in Love winning was the ultimate victory for Miramax's campaigning and it shows the history of the film industry. Its not a great film and it shouldnt have beat Saving Private Ryan, but its still an important part of cinema history thats captured by the best picture win. Its actually one of the most important wins in the history of the Oscars because it, more than most winners, really shows the influence of Harvey Weinsteins campaigning for better or worse. Just cause you dont like the film doesnt mean its not an important win @@PanAndScanBuddy

Definitely agree that they're an important establishment, especially for the people who aren't as famous. I think I was just being provocative or cheeky at certain points in the video :) Thanks for the well thought out comment!

    To me, the proper metaverse has taken form as VRChat, an actual bustling social environment where I can hang out with my friends in whatever shape or body I wish to take. Not to mention its performance, updates and community support are unmatched as of yet. It's a bit telling when such a "game", untainted by corporate presence, is what the users flock to as their "metaverse solution".

  • @etrun3871
    @etrun3871 7 месяцев назад

    tl;dr Meta tried way to hard to force this into mainstream, but I think VR without Metaverse crap is pretty good for everything except work. Full disclosure, I have a Meta VR headset. To be honest, I've never felt that the Metaverse and VR were the same thing. I agree that they used the concept of the Metaverse to try and sell a bunch of VR headsets to people who frankly had no reason to. However, I think that VR has mostly been given a bad name by all the metaverse marketing junk that Meta has been shoving down people's throats the last couple years. Most people who actually do use VR on the regular you won't find in "metaverse" oriented apps. For example with Horizon Worlds (Meta's community building app), if people want to form communities, they're much more likely to use something like VRChat, which has much more substantial and consistent population. In terms of general usage, I do think that VR at least for now is at a state where it's good for games, really good for talking to people you can't meet in real life (I used it to maintain multiple friendships during covid), but I completely agree it has a long way to go before it's really useful in any kind of productive application.

  • @prrrathm
    @prrrathm 7 месяцев назад

    for me the idea of the metaverse isn't as bad as the idea of Zuckerberg's metaverse is, for the same reason I never signed up for threads unless meta changes their policies, I'm never signing up for anything from that company

  • @SeidCivic
    @SeidCivic 7 месяцев назад

    I haven't tried the Metaverse yet, but based on this video, I think the main issue might be that it doesn't seem to offer something that isn't already much more practical/intuitive in the real world. Unless (widely available/affordable) VR technology itself doesn't evolve beyond the janky joystick-feel and mechanism it has today, the Metaverse (as well as non-video game VR programs in general) are nothing more than mere attempts at mimicking what we already have, which is only useful for - as you mentioned it - training people/students/employees for certain tasks or people who are interested in doing certain activities (like painting or chatting) in VR programs specifically. I think the idea might simply be too ambitious for the current state of VR technology.

    • @GalaxyBrainVideo
      @GalaxyBrainVideo 7 месяцев назад

      yes good point! it all feels super gimmicky and VR has yet to find those interesting, practical uses. It all just feels like a cheap toy to mess around with. 3D has been tried numerous times by Hollywood, and has always failed to launch. There is a good and simple reason for this. Most living beings on land, underwater and in the air, have two eyes, fairly close together. Why? It is a similar reason that angular measurements are taken of a telescope at the bow and stern of a ship, observing a coastal landmark, in order to determine the distance from the shore. But this is only reasonably accurate, if the distance is less than ten times the length, of the ship. Our brain needs to process two distinct perspective views, simultaneously: one from the right eye and one from the left. Our brains have evolved to be able to intuitively sense the relative distances between different objects, in front of our eyes, so that we have a sharper understanding of our immediate environment. This was necessary for things like knowing which branch of a tree, is within reach or the proximity of danger, from a potential predator. But this depth perception is only effective, inside a radius of about ten feet or three meters. Our eyes cannot perceive depth, outside of this radius. We lose the ability to determine a sense of distance, through this parallax effect, for objects and subjects, which are further away. Movies try to impress audiences with cinemascopic panoramas. When you try to put very large objects such as an Imperial Battle Cruiser into 3d, paradoxically, it will come off as a small toy, from the point of view of the audience, whether the audience is consciously aware of the fact, or not. The perception subverts the cinematic intent. It doesn’t work because it goes against our brain’s experience of natural depth perception. Movie makers are not architects, they are superficial investors, trying to make a pile of dough, who don’t have time for careful reflection.
